How to get relief from gall bladder symptoms?


In majority of the cases gall stones or gall bladder stones as they are commonly referred as will cause no symptoms. Gall stones are hardened small stone like structures that develop in the gall bladder that is located beneath the liver. This organ is located on the right side of the body. Under certain circumstances, stones may develop in the gall bladder causing it to get inflamed. It may lead to complications resulting in severe pain and discomfort. 

Also referred to as cholecystitis or choledocholithiasis, the common symptoms of gall bladder include the following –
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Pain in the upper right corner of the abdomen
  • Pain occurs after eating meals in which the fat content is high
  • OTC or Over-the-counter antacids do not bring relief
  • The pain occurs frequently
  • Pain accompanied with fever
  • The discomfort usually radiates to the back or behind the breast bone

How to get rid of the gall bladder symptoms?
The most common form of treatment until few years back was the surgical removal of gall bladder. This required a patient to stay in the hospital for over a week. However, over the years, laparoscopic or cholecystectomy has become very common. In this a tiny incision is made to remove the gall bladder. The patient is able to resume normal activities within a day. The other forms of treatment include the following –
  • Solvent dissolution of gallstones
  • Extracting the stones mechanically through catheter
  • Shock wave lithotripsy
The symptoms of gall bladder differ from one person to another. No two individuals will have the same symptoms. For this reason, the treatment will also differ in each case. However, it is important to contact your doctor if you find your skin color is yellow, fever, and drop in blood pressure, and severe pain, which doesn’t go away with over-the-counter medicines.
